The Anheuser & Fehrswinery is one of the most influential traditional businesses in Nahe viticulture. It is located in Bad Kreuznach and looks back on over 400 years of family history. Today it operates under the name Weingut Paul Anheuser.

Origin of the name: The business was founded in1869 by August Anheuser together with wine merchant Adolf Fehrs as a wine export company.
Global heritage: The family emigrated to America in 1842 and founded the brewery giant Anheuser-Busch.
Modern estate: Today, the winery is run by brothers Paul and Rudolf Anheuser in the 14th generation and owns around 40 hectares of vineyards.
🍷 Wine philosophy & grape varieties
Soil and grape varieties: The vineyards are located on volcanic and mineral-rich soils in the Nahe basin. The passion is 70% Riesling, supplemented by Pinot Noir, Silvaner and Müller-Thurgau.
Cellar and flavour: The wines mature in traditional large oak barrels. The result is powerful, mineral Rieslings, which often come from vineyards such as Krötenpfuhl or Königsfels.

Historic exporter: August Anheuser brought Nahe wines overseas to the USA for the first time , making the region famous.
Nature-loving minds: Egon Anheuser, recipient of the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, played a key role in shaping German viticulture after the war.
Monument protection: The historic winery is a listed building and now serves as the centre of a retirement home.
Economic hurdles: The winery went through insolvency proceedings in 2019, but operations have always been maintained.
