Domaine d'Eugénie (Vosne-Romanée, Burgundy)- A young top wine estate with a prestigious pedigree, run by one of the most powerful men in the wine world.
History: The estate was created in 2006 when François Pinault (owner of Château Latour) bought the famous Domaine René Engel and renamed it Domaine d'Eugénie in memory of his mother. Under the management of Frédéric Engerer (Château Latour) and cellar master Michel Mallard, the estate was brought back to the absolute top of Burgundy within a few years.
Vineyards: The domaine cultivates around 6.5 hectares of vines in the Côte de Nuits (Vosne-Romanée, Vougeot, Flagey-Échezeaux). The centrepiece is formed by the Grand Crus Clos de Vougeot (1.36 ha), Grands-Échezeaux (0.50 ha), Échezeaux (0.55 ha) and the Premier Cru Aux Brûlées. Later, white wine paradises in the Côte de Beaune were added: Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Meursault 1er Cru Poruzots and Chassagne-Montrachet. Biodynamic cultivation has been practised since 2009/2010.
Style: Highly precise, aromatic and elegant Pinot Noirs. Depending on the classification, the wine is aged for 12 to 15 months in barriques.
