The Bärmann winery in Baden is a small but fine family winery on the Tuniberg, which produces wines full of character with a great deal of passion and craftsmanship.
📜 History: a return to the roots
The history of the winery dates back to 1814, when Frank Bärmann's ancestors laid the foundation stone for the winery. However, the real success story began in 2013, when Frank Bärmann returned to his native Baden to revitalise the winery in the fifth generation. His debut vintage in 2014 was the starting signal for this new phase in his life.
🌄 Location and terroir: The sun terrace on the Tuniberg
The Bärmann winery is located in Merdingen on the Tuniberg, which is known as the "sun terrace between the Black Forest and the Rhine". The climate there is one of the sunniest and warmest in Germany. The vines thrive on deep loess soils, which provide excellent conditions for viticulture.
🍷 Wine-growing philosophy: quality through dedication
With just 3 hectares of vines, the winery is a very small but fine operation. The focus here is on manual labour. Frank Bärmann's philosophy combines tradition and modernity in harmony. The aim is to produce wines that are typical of the variety and region through careful care of the vines, green harvesting and gentle processing in the old vaulted cellar.
🍾 The wines: Varietal diversity with character
The winery attaches great importance to fresh and fruity wines. Some red wines mature in barrique barrels. The range includes Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Muscat and an orange wine. The winery is particularly proud of its limited-edition Muskateller Brut sparkling wine, of which only around 300 bottles are produced each year.
