🐾 Years of tradition: Weingut Schloss Schönborn is one of the oldest wineries in Germany. The von Schönborn family has owned vineyards in the Rheingau since 1349. The winery was a founding member of the Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates (VDP).

It is one of the oldest named vineyards in the Rheingau; the wine was already being traded as a quality wine in 1390. Marcobrunn was also the first vineyard in the Rheingau to be used on wine labels in1726.

🌟 Vintage of the century: Alongside 1811 and 1865, the 1893 vintage is considered one of the three greatest Rheingau vintages of the 19th century and produced many "wines of the century".
🍯 Description & flavours: The wine is described asdeep amber with a hint of orange and pure gold highlights.The nose is considered flawless, sweet, with a caramelised "barley malt" flavour and a dry, raisiny finish. An alternative description of a Marcobrunner Auslese from the 1893 vintage mentions an initial mushroom note that disappears with aeration, and notes of herbs, sultanas and dried fruit.
