Overview & Origin

This sparkling wine is producedexclusively by Weingut Markgraf von Baden, one of the most traditional and renowned wineries in Germany. The estate cultivates its vineyards at two locations in Baden: Schloss Salem on Lake Constance and Schloss Staufenberg in Durbach. 🏛️ A tribute to history

The name is a deliberate homage to Grand Duchess Stéphanie Napoléon (1789-1860), who was the adopted daughter of Napoléon Bonaparte and later the wife of the Hereditary Grand Duke of Baden, Karl Ludwig Friedrich. One euro from every bottle sold goes to the Princess Wilhelm Foundation, which is socially committed.

Production process & quality

The sparkling wine is produced in an elaborate and quality-intensive traditional bottle fermentation process, which ensures the fine perlage that characterises it. The winery itself describes the cuvée as a combination of "French flair" with the "freshness and elegance" typical of its lake wines.
