Margrave of Baden - Müller-Thurgau Bodensee VDP.GUTSWEIN dry 2023

1. Introduction & background

The Markgraf von Badenwinery is a truly traditional house with a history stretching back over 900 years. Its roots lie in the former imperial abbey of Salem (now Salem Castle), where the wines are still pressed today. The estate has been a member of the Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates (VDP) since 2012 and cultivates around 111 hectares of vines in the two locations of Lake Constance and Ortenau.

The estate is particularly proud of its Müller-Thurgau wines from Lake Constance, which impress with their crisp clarity and vibrancy.

Note on the future:In November 2024, it was announced that the winery intends to clear around 60 hectares of vines on Lake Constance and discontinue the "Markgraf von Baden" wine line with the 2024 vintage. The reason for this was declining sales figures in the premium segment.
