Product information

I haven't drunk a Ducru Beaucaillou for (too) long. In 1993, in our tasting of the century, it was already very advanced, probably not an optimal bottle. In the two bottles afterwards in 1996 it was great stuff with a strong colour, ripe, intensive Cabernet nose, a lot of pressure and length - 96/100. In January 2006 again very convincing on 93/100 level, but fully on the point. Also perfectly matured at the big Ducru tasting in 2006, so silky, elegant and long, Ducru at its very best - 96/100. Should be drunk soon, at least from normal bottles. From a less than optimal ('hs') magnum, the Ducru was already a little past its peak at the end of 2006 with slightly medicinal side tones, but still a great wine with the elegance typical of Ducru - 93/100 (source: wineterminator.com Dr Becker).
96 points Robert Parker: "Tasted six times with consistent notes. Fully mature, yet continuing to exhibit gobs of rich, lush, expansive fruit, the 1961 has amber/orange edges, and possesses an exotic bouquet of ripe fruit, vanillin, caramel, mint, and cedar. Fat, rich, and loaded with sweet, highly extracted fruit, this velvety, beautifully crafted wine has a 60-75 second finish. It is a brilliant wine that should hold up nicely for up to a decade. Anticipated maturity: now-2005." (10/94) 94 points Wine Spectator: "A stunning wine. The richness and concentration of the vintage comes through, but it's polished and focused, with elegant cedar, tobacco and plum flavours. Delicious now and will hold through 2000. A second bottle served at dinner was just as good.-Ducru-Beaucaillou vertical." (10/92)
