Clemens Busch Winery - Pioneering spirit and purism in Pünderich on the Moselle

The Clemens Busch winery, located in idyllic Pünderich on the Moselle, is considered a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture and unadulterated terroir wines. Since the 1980s, Clemens Busch and his wife Rita have characterised the estate with a radical return to nature and tradition - away from conventional methods and towards a holistic ecosystem.

At the heart of the estate are the steep Marienburg vineyards with their unique red slate soils. Parcels such as Fahrlay, Rothenpfad and Felsterrasseproduce Rieslings of seismic minerality and depth. The old, partly ungrafted vines are rooted in extremely steep slopes that can only be cultivated by hand - a commitment to painstaking but quality-orientated work.

Since the 1990s, Clemens Busch has consistently favoured Demeter-certified biodynamics, dispensing with herbicides and synthetic agents to promote the vitality of the soil. Purism follows in the cellar: spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts, long maturation on the fine lees and ageing in large, neutral wooden barrels. The wines, often unfiltered and with minimal sulphur, reflect the terroir of Marienburg in an undisguised way - from slender, dry GGs (Große Gewächse) to complex Spätlese wines with a salt-and-stone character.

As a member of the VDP, the estate stands for the highest quality wine culture. Awards such as regular 100-point ratings (e.g. in Feinschmecker) and international recognition underline its exceptional position. Clemens Busch Rieslings are cult: they combine power and finesse, are archaic and delicate at the same time.

A visit to Pünderich reveals not only spectacular wines, but also the conviction of a winemaker who has rethought the Moselle - radically natural, deeply authentic. 🌿🍇
