Bremen Ratskeller
History & ambience
The Bremer Ratskeller, which has been located under the Bremen Town Hall since 1405, is one of the oldest wine cellars in Germany with medieval vaults and historical flair.
More than 600 German wines, mainly from regions such as the Rhine, Moselle and Ahr, are stored on over 4,000 square metres.
Unique wines & highlights
Rüdesheim apostle wine:
12 large apostle barrels (1,000 litres each) from Rüdesheim vines, some of them decades old. According to legend, a 13th barrel ("Judas") has disappeared.
Germany's oldest wine barrel:
The "Apostelküfer" barrel from 1653 still contains original wine from this period.
Exclusive wines:
Rare vintages, including centuries-old wines, as well as our own wines such as Riesling, Pinot Noir and Silvaner under the Bremer Ratskeller Weine label.
Experience & Gastronomy
The restaurant serves North German specialities (e.g. Bremer Knipp, fish dishes) to go with the wines.
Guided tours and tastings offer insights into the history of the cellar.
