Since its foundation in Épernay in 1869, the Champagne house Martel & Cie has embodied the perfect balance between traditional craftsmanship and modern elegance. As one of the oldest independent family businesses in Champagne, Martel specialises in the production of high-quality champagnes with a strong character that combine typical terroir notes with a special accessibility.
Martel cultivates over 200 hectares of its own vineyards in prime locations in Champagne, including Grand Cru communes such as Cramant and Avize. The cuvées are predominantly made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, with particular emphasis placed on careful processing and individual parcel selection. The results are champagnes with a lively freshness, fine perlage and aromatic depth - from delicate citrus notes to complex pastry flavours.
The best-known creations include the Martel Cuvée Tradition Brut, a versatile champagne with balanced fruit, and the Martel Grand Vintage, a powerful vintage champagne with excellent ageing potential. The Cuvée Sublime, a smooth demi-sec with a seductive honey flavour, is innovative.
