Château Haut-Bages Libéral: A jewel from Pauillac
Château Haut-Bages Libéral is a renowned wine estate in the heart of the Pauillac appellation in Bordeaux. It is one of the Crus Bourgeois Exceptionnels and impresses with elegant, long-lasting wines that are typical of the left side of the Médoc region.
The estate was founded in the 18th century and is named after the Libéral family, who owned the vineyards at the time. The Cruse family later acquired the estate before it was taken over by the famous Taillan winegrowing family in 1983. Since 2000, the château has been managed by Claire Villars-Lurton, who has further improved the quality with modern techniques and ecological commitment.
The vineyards cover around 30 hectares and border on first-class sites such as Château Latour and Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande. The soils consist of deep gravel, which provides ideal conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon (70%) and Merlot (30%). The wines are characterised by their structure, intense aromas of blackcurrant, cedar wood and tobacco as well as fine tannins.
The Grand Vin of Château Haut-Bages Libéral matures for 16 to 18 months in barriques, 40% of which are new oak barrels. It combines power and finesse - a true Pauillac character. A wine for connoisseurs that will become even more complex with age.
Conclusion: Château Haut-Bages Libéral is a top estate that perfectly combines tradition and modernity and impressively reflects the terroir quality of Pauillac.
