Moët & Chandon Brut Impérial MINI 200 ml: The iconic champagne in a handy size

The Moët & Chandon Brut Impérial MINI 200 ml is perhaps the world’s best-known champagne cuvée in a practical small format – a champagne that showcases the signature style of the House of Moët & Chandon in a bottle perfectly sized for personal enjoyment. Since its creation in 1869, the Brut Impérial has embodied the House’s unique style – a bright fruitiness, a seductive palate and an elegant maturity. The 200 ml bottle, affectionately known asa ‘Piccolo’ in French , offers the full range of this iconic champagne in a size that is simply perfect for enjoying on your own, as a gift or to accompany festive occasions.

The House of Moët & Chandon: A 280-year history

The history of Moët & Chandon dates back to 1743, when Claude Moët (1683–1760) – a cloth merchant from Épernay – began supplying wines from Champagne to Paris. His grandson , Jean-Remy Moët (1758–1841), made the house world-famous by introducing champagne beyond the borders of France – he was celebrated as ‘the man who introduced champagne to the world’. According to legend, Napoleon Bonaparte and his troops invented the tradition of opening bottles of Moët with a sabre (‘sabrage’) to celebrate a victory. The name ‘Impérial’ – meaning ‘imperial’ – stems from this connection to Napoleon: the cuvée was created in 1869, exactly one hundred years after the Emperor’s birth. With over 1,300 hectares of vineyards, 50 per cent of which are Grand Cru and Premier Cru sites, Moët & Chandon remains the world’s largest champagne producer to this day and is part of the luxury goods group LVMH.

The blend: more than 100 wines, three grape varieties, one style

The Brut Impérial is a blend of more than 100 different wines, 20 to 30 per cent of which arereserve wines – specially selected to preserve the maturity, complexity and consistency of flavour. The blend reflects the three Champagne grape varieties in their ideal harmony: Pinot Noir (30–40 per cent) lends the wine body and structure, Pinot Meunier (30–40 per cent) provides smoothness and fullness, and Chardonnay (20–30 per cent) brings finesse and elegance. The grape varieties are sourced from across the Champagne region – a reflection of the house’s exceptional terroir diversity. The wine is aged for 36 months in stainless steel tanks, which gives the champagne its remarkable balance of freshness and maturity.

Tasting notes: A champagne of timeless elegance

The Brut Impérial presents itself in an elegant golden straw-yellow colour with green highlights. The nose reveals a lively intensity of green apple and citrus fruits, underpinned by the freshness of mineral nuances and white flowers, as well as the elegance of ripe notes of brioche, cereal and fresh nuts. On the palate , there is a delightful abundance of white-fleshed fruits – pear, peach and apple – accompanied by the seductive smoothness of a delicate effervescence and the soft vibrancy of citrus fruits and gooseberry. The finish is long and balanced, with a pleasant freshness and a subtle mineral note.

The Guide Hachette des Vins awarded 91 points, Jeb Dunnuck 90 points and Vinous 90 points. These consistently high ratings over many years attest to the exceptional quality and consistency of this champagne – an achievement that few cuvées in the world can match.

The MINI format: 200 ml for that special moment

It offers all the sophistication of the Brut Impérial in a perfectly portioned size, ideal for enjoying on your own, as an elegant gift, for travelling or as a table centrepiece. The champagne is served chilled at 6 to 10 degrees and pairs superbly with sushi, shellfish and oysters, as well as with fine poultry, lobster or veal medallions.
