Henri Jayer Vosne-Romanée 1988 - Tasting Note

Colour:
Deep ruby red with amber reflections on the rim - signs of maturity, but still vital and clear.

Nose:
A complex bouquet that wears the decades with dignity: ripe cherries, dried plums and preserved raspberries meld with earthy tertiary notes of truffle, damp forest floor and cedar. Slight hints of clove, tobacco and a touch of vanilla (from ageing in new wood) round off the aroma.

Palate:
A masterful balance between freshness and maturity. The acidity is still lively, but gently carries the flavours of dried red fruits, liquorice and a subtle minerality. The tannins, once powerful, are now fully integrated, leaving a silky texture. The complexity unfolds with notes of mushrooms, leather and a delicate smokiness.

Finish:
Long-lasting and harmonious, with echoes of ripe fruit, iron and a savoury note that invites you to take the next sip.

Overall impression:
