Product information
Tasting note: Château d'Armailhac 1992 (Pauillac, Bordeaux)
The 1992 d'Armailhac comes from a difficult Bordeaux vintage, characterised by cool weather and humidity. Nevertheless, it shows an astonishing drinkability and typical Pauillac flavour.
Sensory analysis (with good storage)
Colour:
Medium-intense garnet red with orange-brown reflections - already advanced in maturity.
Nose:
Classic Pauillac aromas: cassis, dried plum, cedar, pencil minerality.
Tertiary development: Tobacco, leather, damp leaves, a light truffle note.
Woody notes: Vanilla, roasted coffee beans, subtle smoky spice.
Rather restrained overall, but with typical Bordeaux character.
Palate:
Light to medium-bodied, with already softly polished tannins.
Acidity dominates slightly - typical of the cool 1992 vintage.
Flavours of ripe blackcurrant, dried herbs, black pepper and a slightly bitter cocoa note.
Finish: Moderately long, with a pleasant spiciness (pepper, iron).
Overall impression:
A light but characterful Pauillac - not a powerful wine, but with typical terroir charm.
Rating & ageing potential
Parker (RP): 85/100 ("A pleasant, albeit light Pauillac")
Drinking window: Now - 2027 (already fully mature, should not be stored for long).
Decant: 20-30 minutes to open up the flavours.
Serving recommendation:
Roast duck breast with orange sauce
Lamb chops with rosemary potatoes
Mild cheeses such as Camembert or Brie
Conclusion:
An honest, mature Bordeaux from a weak vintage - not spectacular, but with a typical Pauillac profile. Ideal for unpretentious enjoyment.
Tip: If you have a bottle, open it soon.
