Product information

This is not the case with red wine, which is more likely to be recognised as needing time to mature. Greiner also opened an amber-coloured 1945 Assmannshäuser Höllenberg Pinot Noir at the world rarities dinner in Hattenheim's Kronenschlösschen, which, with its freshness and elegance, its aromas of cedar wood, tobacco, cassis, raspberry, violets and smoked bacon, even stole the show from the five vintages 2006, 1995, 1986, 1976 and 1966 of the incomparably more expensive cult wine estate "Château Mouton Rothschild". This Saturday, the Staatsweingüter are auctioning off a bottle of this outstanding Pinot Noir for a good cause. Greiner is hoping for proceeds of somewhere between 3000 and 8000 euros. Record sales were achieved at the traditional wine auction of the VDP Rheingau on February 29th in Kloster Eberbach. The single bottle of 1920 Riesling Schloss Johannisberger Goldlack Trockenbeerenauslese achieved the hammer price at 18,000 euros. The second record result was also surprising: a 0.7l bottle of 1945 Pinot Noir Assmannshäuser Höllenberg Natur from Kloster Eberbach was awarded the bid for 12,600 euros. The proceeds of this benefit wine are intended for charitable purposes.
