Product information

- Michael Broadbent: 5***** (06-1996) Elegant 'legs'; milk chocolate, vanillin nose; fleshy, good fruit, masked tannins. The l'Evangile, now drunk 20 times, is very mature. I drank the best bottles of this wine around the turn of the millennium with 96/100. After that, a number of bottles fluctuated between 90 and 95/100. 2007 was the most recent: ripe, porty, chocolaty - 94/100 (source: wineterminator.com Dr Becker).
- Robert Parker : 96/100 (01-1998) The 1990 remains one of the great modern day L'Evangiles, rivaling such superb vintages as 1995, 1985, 1982, 1975, 1950, and 1947. It possesses a deep purple colour, a youthful but promising nose of sweet black fruits, chocolate, caramel, truffles, and minerals. The wine is exceptionally rich and full-bodied, with admirable glycerin and thickness. Its development in the glass indicates the wine is still in a youthful, dormant stage. The finish is full of sweet fruit, with the wine's extract concealing moderate tannin. The 1990 is a fabulously pure, rich L'Evangile to drink between the turn of the century and 2020.
- Wine Spectator: 95/100 (08-2000) Big and ripe. Dark ruby-garnet colour. Very ripe berry, chocolate and plum aromas. Full-bodied and chewy, with lots of tannins and a very ripe fruit finish. Tight, muscular and concentrated.
