Product information
Notes: On the Atlantic coast of the Isle of Lewis, which is part of the Outer Hebrides archipelago, a small distillery called Abhainn Dearg (= Red River) started production near the village of Uist in 2008. Expansion and commissioning took place quietly. The first barrels have already been filled and the bottling of the first Red River single malt can therefore be pencilled in for 2011! Mark Tayburn built the distillery on the site of a former salmon farm, which was also used for illegal distilling until around 1950, and named it after the neighbouring river Red River. However, he used the Gaelic form of the river's name and the Abhainn Dearg distillery was born.
