Schäfer-Fröhlich - Felseneck Riesling Grosses Gewächs GG trocken 2022
Decanter über: Riesling Felseneck Großes Gewächs
-- Decanter: In a class of its own, almost as in every vintage. The steep site, visible from the winery, with its soil mixture of Rotliegend, slate, quartzite and basalt, is firmly associated with Schäfer-Fröhlich. Resting long on fine lees, it's rather restrained, with lemongrass, lemon jelly, mint and verbena, everything still tightly laced and held together by taut but ripe acidity, but you can feel the underlying power, which is set to evolve in the future. Overwhelming length on the finish. 98/100

Suckling über: Riesling Felseneck Großes Gewächs
-- Suckling: What amazing harmony this Nahe riesling GG has in spite of the vibrancy of its very racy acidity. Amazing spice and smoke in the nose with notes of pomelo and grapefruit on the concentrated and impeccably proportioned palate. Some grapefruit pith bitterness at the finish, but this just adds to the excitement that the slatey minerality generates and beams out to the whole galaxy. Drinkable now, but best from 2024. 98/100
