1956
The vintage year 1956 goes down in wine history as a terrible year. The weather terms were fatal, the grapes did not have any possibility for ripening. Thin wines without structure and lives. Within young years fairly drinkable copies existingly, in today's time well over the mountain. As still only a vintage present interesting.
Like in Bordeaux a weak wine year. Rain, few sun hours and a cool autumn led to an unsatisfactory grape good. The port houses did not declare the vintage. Avoiding!
In Germany like also in the other wine cultivable areas a terrible year. Frost in the spring, chilly and damp summer weather and a modest autumn took thin, sour wines to the cellars of the winegrowers. Hardly today in an interesting way. Not providing any high expectations to the bottles.
