1928
The vintage year 1928 was a century vintage in Bordeaux together with 1929s. The wines are enormously tannin loaded, extract rich and long-lasting. Through a hot summer the grapes ripened ideally, the berry bowls were thick and therefore the vintners could open tared the coloured and tanning substances go back. These, connected to polished cellar techniques let lavish, artful wines arise. Today, one still should be for the plants on the lookout. By the world economic crisis in 1929 many of the outstanding wines remained unsold and slumbered in quite a number of cellars. To this day, one can therefore still find the vintage. The best growth are well chateau Margaux and chateau Latour. Sturdy long-range runners, the Latour reducing both required almost 50 years around the insane tannin framework a little. The 1928s Latour still has a longer life ahead of himself. The search is worthwhile, the prices have, however, increased strongly. True treasures can be found chateau also at the less known ones. Chateau Trotanoy and chateau Calon Segur can be recommended here. The Sauternes plants have turned out also exceptionally well. Long-lasting sweet wines with a further potential!
The port vintage year 1928 goes down in long history as good till satisfactory. It was embellishes though particularly expressive wines not produced. With luck drinkable copies still can be found in well structured cellars.
The bad decade in Germany produced another lean vintage. The winegrowers were at the precipice and had to fight with too adverse weather conditions. The wines are too oldly and hardly interesting today!
