1952
The vintage year 1952 represented a clear recovery in the comparison with the 1951s wines. The dealers moreover had to quench the high follow-up war thirst and shopped in the great style in Bordeaux. The first months of the growth season went promisingly, a beautiful flower and a warm, not too dry summer nursed the great hopes of the winegrowers. Unfortunately hail - damaged the autumn with chilly and damp and rainy weather the harvest. This led to very different qualities at long last. Good in Graves and on the right shore. Chateau Petrus and Vieux Chateau Certan are long-range runners. Latour still can be charming and full of character in good bottles. The vintage becomes rarer today.

In fine weather terrific wines which were drunk up in first half of the 1950s years could be produced in Germany. Today, the selections still can be terrific. A search for intact bottles is worthwhile.
