1949
The vintage year 1949 goes down in history of the Bordelaise as a splendid year. He is completely contrarily vintage to the 1945s and the 1947s. The weather conditions were anything but simple. A rainy spring caused the vines considerable problems. By the so-called sprinkling the profit was already decimated strongly for the annual start. A heat wave then arose in the following course of the year with undreamt-of temperatures in Bordeaux. Almost 43 degrees centigrade were measured in July. The remained grapes could therefore tank and mature sun hours enough. By the dryness older vines were, however the weather prepared better, these could come through the drought notwithstandingly and deliver the necessary humidity to the grapes. Storms which further reduced the profit still followed superfluously in autumn. With the dealers and the follow-up war company a very popular year. Most wines were used up in the fifties. The wines are very rare and nevertheless popular today. Very good wines became Cheval Blanc produced on chateau Mouton Rothschild, chateau Margaux, chateau Petrus and chateau. The less known producers also delivered partial brilliant achievements. The search is worthwhile also here furthermore. Bottles of view hold, otherwise increasingly risky after stored well.
A weak port year with a summer at which one measured to 45 degrees centigrade. The vines dried out in a desert landscape, the harvest was destroyed almost completely. Avoiding!
Very good wine year in Germany. In the Rhine district and a hot summer at the Moselle with fully ripe grapes. Noble sweet wines are still a pleasure, however, become rarer. The profit was little, the prices have increased enormously today. Being and buying later on the lookout.
